I've Moved.

I have been writing on this site since January 1, 2008, consistently at times and then not so much at other times. I have published 1112 posts and my first comment was from my friend Veronica. I have written about so many topics- love and loss, scrapbooking and teaching, family and adventures, I have cooked and shared recipes and I've wrote about nothing.
In the beginning I had no idea what I was doing, I just started a blog so I could share stories and my work. I've come a long way and my work has come a long way. I am teach way more, I am constantly creating kits, bulk cards and finished products that sell at Treasured Memories & I have clients that I do work for.
I feel so proud of how far I have come and how much my little business has grown and because of that I needed a bigger platform and more options to expand. I officially became a dot com at the beginning of September and am moving my work away from here and over to it's new home at Nadine Karen Design.
I want to thank my readers for following me, checking in on me and encouraging me.  I hope that you'll follow me over to my new site where I'll be sharing consistently again and using my space to promote my work and my creations, it all can be found at  Nadine Karen Design

All the lovey feelings,
♥ Nadine

Canada Day Fun

Is it too late to post Canada Day pictures? No.... ok good!

The weather was perfect for spending the day out in the sun so we headed down to the Legislature Grounds here in Edmonton. It really is so beautiful and all the fountains just add the perfect touch for summer. We grabbed treats from food trucks, splashed in the fountains and listened to some live music. A pretty great morning.

After that we headed to a friend's BBQ and ate some super delicious food and then enjoyed the fireworks. It was such a great day full of family, friends and sunshine!

The ones that love us.

Product: Simple Stories: pattern papers and stickers, Bo Bunny & Crate Paper: alphas, Studio Calico: doily, American Crafts: "love"

This layout was created for Creative Scrapbooker and published in their Summer 2016 issue. I am so grateful that I was asked to contribute for this issue and even more grateful that they keep asking. The call for this page was "layout with movie quote". I used a quote from Harry Potter from Sirius Black that really resonated with me. This is the first photo, the first page that I created of my Dad since his passing. It was the first time I could even think about it. When I got my issue I just held the page open and cried.

Creative Scrapbooker, formerly known as Canadian Scrapbooker but they now have print available in the USA... and that's freakin' awesome!

You can find my work on page 55, I got the whole page!!!
You can also see 2 cards I designed on page 121.

Fred Penner Magic ♥

Fred Penner @ The Children's Festival
Where: St. Albert
Date: June 4, 2016

I can not even begin to express how excited I was for this and for the chance to take Anna to see him perform. I remember him from my own childhood with such fondness and can still sing all the songs. He began strumming his guitar and I literally had to bite my lip to focus so I wouldn't burst into happy tears. He sang some of my favorites: The Cat Came Back, It's Ain't Gonna Rain, The Bump, Celebrate Being and he closed with You are my Sunshine. That one got me, I couldn't keep my emotions in check any longer and I cried from pure joy and respect.

After the show we went and stood in line for a photo op. I shook his hand and said thank you for making music... almost lost it again but I managed to keep my emotions in check. He and his music truly are magical!

Evening Walk

As I mentioned in my last post, we've been putting a big focus on exploring and getting outdoors this summer. It is mostly Anna & I during the mornings but these photos are from an evening walk with all three of us in St. Albert. I love their trail system and it's only 15 minutes from our place.
These trails lead you through lush greens, singing birds, beautiful sunsets and once again I forget I am in the city. I feel happiest when surrounded by these things.
This particular night our path lead us along the Sturgeon River and to a gorgeous rail bridge, an outdoor fitness park and a playground. It has something for all of us.
